Hinsdale Central High School is providing counseling services to students and staff following the tragic death of a student on Tuesday afternoon. In a letter sent to families that evening, school officials confirmed the loss of a current student, though out of respect for the family’s privacy, further details surrounding the passing were not released.
The school expressed heartfelt condolences to the student’s loved ones and acknowledged the deep impact the loss has on the entire school community.
Administrators encouraged parents and guardians to check in with their children, noting that grief manifests differently for everyone. “Each student will respond in their own way, and it’s important to offer them space, support, and a listening ear,” the letter stated.
To support students during this difficult time, Hinsdale Central’s Student Service Department has made counseling services available. School counselors, social workers, and psychologists will be on hand to speak with any student who may need support or someone to talk to.
The school community is urged to lean on one another during this period of mourning, and further communication regarding memorials or ways to support the family may be shared in the coming days.
If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Students and families are encouraged to reach out to school counselors or contact local mental health services.
