The Harrison City community is mourning the loss of Janet Whirlow, beloved owner of Janet’s Restaurant and a cherished local figure whose warmth, generosity, and incredible home cooking left a lasting legacy. Janet recently passed away, though the circumstances surrounding her passing have not yet been publicly shared.
Known for running one of the most beloved eateries in the Penn-Trafford (PT) area, Janet served more than just meals—she served love, comfort, and tradition in every dish. Her restaurant was a local staple, a place where memories were made and where neighbors felt like family.
Janet’s impact extended far beyond the walls of her restaurant. She was a selfless community leader and mentor, giving back in countless ways. One of the many examples of her generosity was her annual donation of homemade pies to Manor Grille Irwin for their free Thanksgiving Dinners—a gesture that brought comfort to many during the holiday season and reflected the heart she poured into everything she did.
Manor Grille Irwin shared a heartfelt tribute, remembering Janet as a “kind, inspirational individual and mentor” whose acts of kindness touched so many lives. Her passing leaves a void not only in her family and friends’ hearts but also in the wider community that came to love and appreciate her spirit.
Janet Whirlow will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness, service, and incredible food will continue to live on in every life she touched.
